Lynn firefighters responded to a house fire on Crescent Street Sunday morning and were able to quickly knock the fire down, according to Lynn Fire Public Information Officer Lt. Denis Ring. Everyone was outside of the building, and no injuries were reported.
According to Ring, the call of a building fire at 5 Crescent St. came in just before 10 a.m. Once crews arrived at the scene, they reported fire showing from the right-hand side of the building. By around 10:50 a.m., the fire was reported to be completely out.
According to city records, the 2.5-story wood building is assessed as a single-family house, and Ring stated those living inside may not be displaced.
“What they found was no major extension to the interior of the home,” Ring said. “Chances are there may not even be displacement.”
The fire is currently under investigation, though Ring said there could be many causes, especially during the winter, as heating sources are more often in use.
It is not known at the time if all smoke detectors in the building were working. Ring said that thanks to multiple callers reporting the fire quickly, it helped crews efficiently put it out once on scene.
“Sunday morning, where it’s relatively quiet, it’s nice that people would notice the fire and call it in so quickly, which allowed our crews to get there and knock it down in a really quick fashion, Ring said.
