A teenager from Lynn who had been missing since Nov. 27 was found safe.
Amanda Sequeira said that she got a call from the Lynn Police Department saying that her 15-year-old daughter, Isabella Carter, was at the station on Friday morning.
“I don’t have the specifics in regards to where she was located or how she was located,” Sequeira said. “They told me to come pick her up.”
Upon receiving the call, Sequeira felt a wave of relief come over her.
She added that it was not the first time that Carter had gone missing.
“I didn’t know if I should cry or how to feel at first,” she said. “Going on 11 days, that was the longest she’s ever been gone for.”
Sequeira said that her daughter had been struggling with mental-health issues.
“As of now, we’re working on getting her the proper care education-wise and medical-wise,” Sequeira said. “I’m working with many different resources and agencies to get her the help that she needs.”
Sequeira said she knows that will be a long process.
“We’re getting there slowly,” she said. “I’m a mom who’s persistent. No matter what I have to do, I will get her what she needs.”
She thanked all of the people in the community who helped get her daughter home.
“I’m so thankful to be a part of this city,” Sequeira said. “When something like this happens, the city comes together for each other. The community sharing the information, we were all able to come together and bring her home safely. I’m very grateful and thankful.”
