Area firefighters responded to a 3-alarm fire Thursday night at a large 2.5-story brick and wood house at 5 Stafford Road in Lynnfield.
The first reports came in at 8:25 p.m., saying that the heavy fire started in the attic and spread to the garage and upper floors of the home. Witnesses saw dozens of firefighters from other departments from communities such as Wakefield, Stoneham, Middleton, Saugus, Reading, and North Reading joining Lynnfield in battling the fire. The witnesses also said that they could smell the smoke from Summer Street near Huckleberry Hill due to strong winds.
Crews blocked off the street from both ends and ordered everyone out of the building. There are also reports that the owners of the home made it out.
