A driver from Saugus was involved in a fatal crash on Interstate 95 in Portsmouth, N.H., Wednesday morning, according to a press release from the New Hampshire State Police.
According to the release, the driver, a 38-year-old man from Saugus, had been driving with one passenger, a 65-year-old woman from Buena Park, Calif. They were traveling north in a 2019 Genesis G70 when the driver lost control and veered off the paved part of the interstate.
“The car continued into the grassy center median, before turning and hitting a large light pole,” the release read.
The passenger was thrown from the vehicle and died, while the driver was taken to Portsmouth Regional Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Two lanes of I-95 South were closed for three hours while the crash was investigated. The State Police added in the release that neither the names of the driver or passenger are being released yet.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing, and anyone with information about it should contact State Trooper Tyler Dodds at [email protected].
